Welcome to the website for the

Chard-Helmstedt Society

Chard has been officially twinned with Helmstedt since 1980 although contacts between the two towns go back several years before that. The Chard-Helmstedt Society is the focal point for these contacts. Helmstedt is a town of nearly 30,000 inhabitants near Brunswick, in the state of Lower Saxony in north central Germany. It lies in attractive wooded countryside north of the Harz Mountains. It was previously the main road and rail crossing-point between West and East Germany. Berlin is within easy reach.

As well as cultural, school and sporting contacts, regular exchange visits take place and new members are always welcome to join the Society.
